Welcome to Canaille Bistro Français

Opened in the fall of 2007, Canaille Bistro Français offers the classic, earthy cuisine that French bistro lovers crave. The menu is dedicated to fresh, local produce, emphasizing greenmarket ingredients, and weekend fish and meat specials that change depending on the season.

The wine list at Canaille features all French wines, with an emphasis on organic and small producers. Wines from regions in the South of France include Cahors, Madiran, Corbiere, Minervois and Luberon. Co-Owner, Philippe de Crespi's choice of wines is based on his philosophy, "I buy my wines from small French producers who put love and passion into their product. I want to offer the greatest glass of wine for under $10."

Located along Park Slope's busy 5th Avenue "Restaurant Row," Canaille's ambience gives one the feeling that they've left Brooklyn and landed in the middle of Paris. This cozy and charmingly-appointed room features golden parchment-colored walls, a low-lit crystal chandelier, comfortable banquettes, white tile floors, tin ceiling and dark cherry wood cabinetry that holds the restaurant's carefully-selected French wines. Both romantic and classic, Canaille is perfect for a Sunday family gathering or a quiet weeknight dinner for two. With capacity for 45 people, the restaurant is also an ideal space for private events including birthday parties, wedding rehearsal dinners, and other special occasions.
